1. Digital Lunch Talk on Science and Higher Education Research
"The Invisible Aspects of Quality in Science. Chair Organization: Leadership – Motivation – Conflicts"
Friday, November 15, 2024 | 1:00 to 2:00 PM
Professor Dr. Uwe Wilkesmann, Chair of Organizational Research and Continuing Education Management and Director of the Center for Higher Education (zhb), will present current research findings from the project UnSicht – the invisible aspects of the quality of science. In this project, he and his team researched academic chairs and the impact of chair organization on the quality of research performance. Based on the disciplines of Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Biology, and Sociology, they identified similarities and differences in how professors must resolve conflicts and fulfill their leadership roles.
The research results provide insights into the organization of academic chairs and describe everyday conflicts such as the order of authors in joint journal articles and rules for collaboration.
As a "voice from practice," Ms. Mia Feldmann, a volunteer expert from the GEW (German Education Union) and a research associate at Bielefeld University, will comment on and contextualize the research findings.
The lunch talk will be moderated by freelance education journalist Britta Mersch, who works for various media outlets, including Deutschlandfunk and WDR5.
The presentation will be held in German.
Please register by November 14, 2024.
